Matsushita Jumps Into The Portable Player Market

Panasonic_logo_1CNET: Matsushita (owner of the Panasonic brand which is world's largest consumer electronics maker) has recently announced 4 new portable digital-audio players, in a play hoping to boost its presence in a market dominated by Apple's 70% lead. The new devices in the D-Snap line have a small form factor, weigh less than a pound and function without hard drives using flash memory. According to the report, the new players would be launched worldwide in April and May.  Not a bad move for them since,"iSuppli predicts that sales of portable digital-music players will grow 57% this year after more than doubling to 36.8 million in 2004."
