Loudeye Launches Bundle Initiative With Dutch ISP

Loudeye_logoYahoo:  Yesterday, Loudeye Corporation announced the launch of a new digital music bundling initiative through a deal with a leading Dutch ISP, Planet Internet, which currently has over 600,000 subscribers. Under the service, Planet Internet offers its ADSL customers free music for a year - in the form of promotional credits. The package is offered to both new subscribers and existing customers and does not require an additional subscription fee...Customers can spend the credits in Planet Internet's MusicStream service where they can stream or download individual tracks and whole albums. Ed Averdieck, managing director for Loudeye's European Operations, said, "This deal reflects another innovative way in which Loudeye opens the options to consumers who are looking for high quality digital downloadable music at an affordable cost."

Comments

This was actually launched in March. The amount of free credits differs per subscriber with subscribers to the cheaper ADSL getting about € 4 worth and the faster (more expensive) ADSL subscriptions get about € 11 in free credits each month.

This is just one of the ways in which Planet Internet differentiates its offering from the more basic "Access-only" ISP's. Other ways include: free technician to install ADSL at your home, free anti-virus software and free firewall.

The ISP's in the Netherlands have caused a price-war to erupt, making customer loyalty last only as long as your latest promotion. By bundling other services with their ADSL subscriptions, the price for the service is increasingly hard to compare to that of other providers.
