I want to briefly pay homage to the girls in the front row of the showcase last night. They arrived early at the club and positioned themselves in front of the stage, and when Howlies came on, they danced and cheered as if the band had top ranking on their iPods. Nothing special, except for the fact that they did the exact same thing for Nevershoutnever. And Graham Coxon. And Superdrag. And Tinted Windows.
They didn't spend the night starting at their phones, or twittering, or texting. They screamed "we love you" and "you're awesome." These girls LOVE MUSIC. So front row ladies, I salute you, because I can't get through a show with glancing at my phone every ten seconds, wondering what's happening on Facebook or if Elliott Smith has risen from the dead and is playing a secret show in a park. Kudos to the music fans.
