Back To The 'Mats
Details are scant right now, but Jaded Insider has heard that Replacements members Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson and Chris Mars recently hit the studio with session drummer Josh Freese to record some new tracks, which might just be the closest we'll ever get to a full-on reunion from the legendary 'Mats.
Whether these songs will appear on the long-drooled over, eternally delayed Replacements boxed set or someplace else hasn't been announced, and nobody in the know is willing to confirm anything at the moment. Billboard.com will keep you posted as soon as more information is available. For now, blast some bootleg Westerberg from his semi-official Web site.

If the mats ever did get back together I would not hesitate to go. I am a Mats addict. I go to all the shows when Tommy and Paul are around I am dedicated. If they didn't invite Slim or Minehan (to name just a few c'mon Tommy Keene and more) I would hope they would invite me even though I am a nobody (not really I am just one of the many good musicians that half killed himself starving for may years that never got to where most of us dream of). What I wouldn't do to play the tunes that never leave my head. One of the best bands ever. Even apart on the respective solo records you know who they are, what they are and where they have been. They are still sounding like themselves. Don't dump on Tommy for signing for axl. Fuck he gets a paycheck!
I have met Paul at the after shows and he is a great guy. Tommy is a scream. I guess in their postion they have to be on the un approachable side but in all not a bad buch of guys. Never met Mars.
