Hell Hath No Fury Like Van Halen Scorned
Or, something like that. Visit Billboard.com for the full scoop on the long-awaited Van Halen reunion tour with ex-frontman David Lee Roth, but below, we present some of the questions the boys half-answered during today's press conference in Hollywood. Should this tour actually make it out of the starting gate, Jaded Insider will be front and center for the November show at Madison Square Garden, air-drumming with all our might and reliving the soundtrack to our third grade year at Fairlawn Elementary School.
How does it feel to be onstage for the first time in so many years?
Eddie Van Halen: "It's incredible to me. I'm very excited to be making music with my son, my brother and my new brother. It's the shit, that's all I can say ... It is totally blowing our own minds. It's better than it's ever been."
Roth: "It feels completely natural, strangely enough."
Will [ex-bassist] Michael Anthony be on any L.A. dates?
Roth: "No, Michael Anthony is part of this band's history. There are a lot of great alumni who have been through this band. I'm shocked any of us are still vertical after 30 years. As far as why Wolf is in the band, while we're at the top of our game -- and we really are -- I understand why [Eddie] wanted to play with the boy, because he is amazing. And you heard me say that."
Asked if his guitar playing has changed since sobriety, Van Halen responded:
"It's always changing. You'll just have to come by and check it out and see what you think."
When fans can expect a new Van Halen album?
Roth: "We're already plotting and planning."
How did Wolfgang join the band?
Wolfgang Van Halen: "We just started playing one summer and I sort of slipped in."
A final dose of Roth hyperbole:
"We have re-formed this like a brother team in a way it never was before. We think we got it right this time. You come and judge the performance harshly. Please, I beg you, come on down and see."

What a load of crap. So this is Eddie's payback for Mike "aligning" with Sammy -- it's obvious. Yeah, Dave's been in and out of the picture for twenty-two frickin' years and even TOURED with Sammy. In those twenty-two years Dave's been trash-talking Ed along with most everyone else in the band...suddenly he's smooching and dry humping Ed's leg like an overanxious newlywed?! So because Mike touts a band called The Other Half with Sam (Ed's "best friend" for all those years) and does VH material he's suddenly more out than Dave ever was. Give me a fucking break! All Ed has to do is what the fan base (what's left of it anyway) wants: give MA a call and tell him he's re-hired. This is total bullshit, EVH and you know it. Until you do otherwise this is just a band called The Van Halens With David Lee Roth. Your future IS your history. Do it right or not at all.

Do not limit yourselves to the USA. Please come down to Latinamerica and play. You have a lot of fans in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina(you played there in 1983 with Quiet Riot as special guest)and Brazil. We'll surely miss Michael Anthony, but as we say here, "something is better than nothing". Don't let your Latinamerican fans down!

I am ecstatic. I have been waiting 23 years for this. I expect nothing but the BEST! We'll miss you Mike, times a change and VH must move on!

This is bizarre. No Texas or Florida dates?

If they don't come to either Austin or San Antonio, that's total BS. Back in 05, the last tour with Sammy, VH nearly sold out the show. If they pass on that, they're out of their minds.

What a joke!

Enough with insulting the guys already. Van Halen is one of the greatest bands ever...period! How many bands today are even going to be looked at 20 years from now like these guys? Answer: NONE. Papa Roach, Offspring, Puddle of Mudd? They can't put a pimple on VH's ass. For those who have supported VH's every move (except the one with Gary), let us enjoy the show!
To Ed, Al, and Dave...glad you FINALLY worked things out. Wish Mike was there too...but if the other musicians name is Van Halen, how can we go wrong??? I just hope Wolfie can hit those high harmonies!!
Bring it on!!!!

Finally!! I've seen them 3 times with sammy and even saw sammy and dave together which was strange but still a great show. It would of course be better with mike on board but I understand. VH is my favorite band of all time. I'll take whatever I can get!!

Eddie finally got it together. give him a 2nd chance and lets see what wolfie has to offer. from the gene pool of the van halens, you can't go wrong, even if he does look like his mom@! i'm saddened to see they're not making any stops in fla.

This is amazing news. Think about it, if one VH member had to be absent, who would it be? Obviously Mike. Also, if Wolfy's dad's name is Edward Van Halen, he can't be that bad, can he?
Lets just hope the ticket prices arn't too high for this...

BTW: everyone that is saying how no dates in florida etc., they probubly will schedule some, they said it was a 50-date tour, they have only released 25 of them. ALso, once that 50 is done they still may schedule other legs, as that often happens.

I give this tour less than 5 dates and it's "Road Closed - Use Next Exit" for Dave; The guy can't shut up, he's unbearable! And as for Michael Anthony, he got F***'d plain and simple. Go back to your first love Ed: the bottle.

I also think Eddie should call Mikey. It's not "Van Halen" without him on bass. But on the other hand, maybe we should give Wolfy a listen. He maybe as good if not better. And he might give some fresh blood to the "New VH" I saw him play with Ed for a gig in '04 in St.Paul when they last toured with Sammy. Sounded good to me! But you can't please everyone. At least they are back together somewhat and gonna play the tunes we all know and love! I could not be happier! I WILL see them when they come to Minneapolis. See you there!!

Oh yeah! To all you VH hater's! Piss off! If you don't like it, don't listen to it! We have waited 23 years for this "Reunion" Whats done is done! Times do change and it is time to move on. With or without Mike. I say give Ed and Dave a 2nd chance. If it dosen't work, then you can bash all you want! And yes, I hope Eddie can stay sober for the entire tour. We shall see. Peace!

anyone think that they might come to pittsburgh...

Very cool.... Nice to see some of the boys together. BTW, there are several bands touring today that will be looked back on in 20 years. VH, The stones, The Who, Pearl Jam, Jimmy Buffett, etc

No Mikey? Sad! Everyone should swallow their pride, after all they are all grown men aren't they. No disrespect to Wolfy, but the fans deserve the original lineup.

I'd love to see this band pull off the harmonies Mike Anthony provided with the kid. IT AIN'T GONNA COME OFF.
BRING BACK M.A.

I'd love to see this tour get off the ground, but Halloween (as stated above) seems to be a good point where it all falls apart. Eddie and Alex are definitely in control of VH these days, and Dave has been humbled somewhat by 20someting years of mediocre returns, but if anyone is crazy enough to screw up a good thing, it's definitely Diamond Dave.

It's hard to believe that it will sound better than ever. Wolf just doesn't have enough experience, and high backup's I doubt if he could do it. I haven't seen Eddie play in years. And dave will really have to condition his voice. We'll probably see some kind of video on this tour. Hope it turns out okay even though I won't be going
