The Dream Sings 'Sorry' Song

Thedream_2 Two weeks ago, Billboard.com writer Mariel Concepcion chatted it up with singer/songwriter The Dream , who penned Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and J. Holiday’s “Bed.” When asked about fellow R&B singer Chris Brown’s claim that “Bed” was originally written for him, the Atlanta native, who is slated to release his debut project, “Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter,” Dec. 11 via Island Def Jam, said the following:

"The track was considered for Chris Brown -- he thought it was his -- but it was my record and I decided to give it up to J. Holiday," explains The Dream. "Chris said the record won't be No. 1 unless he's on it. I bet someone $500,000 that it would go to No. 1 and I collected my money just last week.

"He said the wrong thing to me,” he continued. "He has a track from me now that I was paid for already and I want to give him his money back. At the end of the day, I'm big on principle and loyalty. Put that to bed."
Ouch!

Apparently, The Dream has since taken back his statements, apologizing to Brown via his own Myspace page.

"I'm apologizing for comments directed towards Chris Brown on Billboard.com. I spoke to Chris Brown and I advised him that when he made the public statement in the September issue of Vibe Magazine I was disappointed because we worked on his project and I thought he made comments that were directed to me and since I'm the only public figure surrounding my building, and the song "Bed". I took it as disrespect and the media, and respected friends felt the same way. Chris said the coments were towards another part of the situation surrounding the song and I stand here to not defend my comments but to take full responsibility for my classless choice of talking through the media. I apologize to Chris Brown, Mark Pitts and Jive Records.”

J.I.’s glad the two budding artists were able to squash the R&B beef.

And for some Billboard stats, “Bed” has spent over three weeks at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

I am one who is happy that the two has made up. I for one do not like to see people going at each other & hating on each other. Both of them (Terius Nash & Chris Brown are very talented young men, along with talented Nahum Grymes aka J. Holiday. I like Chris Brown & J. Holiday. Chris Brown could have handled the song, but that song was a match made in heaven for J. Holiday. The song fit J. Holiday to the T, like a marriage. Things happen for reasons.

There is always room for more R&B artist, so I can't be angry for the introduction of J Holiday to the market. So Dream and Ne Yo keep writing. The market could only get better with new young brilliant writers.

Maaaaan Listen!!! Chris Brown is an amazing performer and when his videos come on or when he performs live im absolutly glued to the tv in envy. however than kid can't really sing, especially a song like that, and at his so called age of 18 it aint even appropriate (i think i spelled it wrong) for him to sing that song. that song is for a man to sing. i don't give a damn how much money chris brown got it doesn't give him the right to be demanding songs like that! if he wants all the hot songs to be his then he should learn how to write his own damn songs! The Dream is a PUNK for taking back his statement cause he still means every word he said. hey somebody tell Mr. Brown to keep running his boney butt from wall to wall trying to get a kiss kiss! lol! lord 4give me
