Digital Audio Projector Technology Growing
In-Stat: According to a new research report by In-Stat, digital audio projection (DAP) is an exciting and emerging technology in the music industry and is the "consumer electronics version of ventriloquism." In essence, DAP devices are able to broadcast Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound from a single device offering audio enhancements without additional speakers, speaker wire or power sources. As the technology becomes less and less expensive, projector unit shipments are expected to grow significantly. In-Stat expects to see almost U.S. $1 billion in revenue by 2010 and anticipates that digital audio projection, as a single-source unit, "will eventually be incorporated into the form factor of the television itself and will be an important value-added proposition..."
