Garageband Kicks It Up A Notch With New Podcasting Tools

CNET:  Yesterday, Garageband announced new tools designed to let people record, mix and publish their own songs via podcast or to license and distribute their music to podcasters. According to the company's website, they hope to support the free Podcast Studio service either with audio advertising and/or by charging fees for ad-free podcasts. But for the time being - there are no ads and no charges. Ali Partovi, CEO of GarageBand.com stated, "We're on the forefront of a wave that will make personal broadcasting a reality and redefine how music is discovered and promoted,"  For example, 'Phone-casting' is coming soon where you can record new audio for your podcast via a toll-free phone call...It's too soon to tell, but these types of tools could prove to be valuable to those who want to make their voices and music publicly available over the internet via streaming, download and/or subscription...And experts say 'any exposure is good exposure.'  I enjoyed listening to some of the on demand streams (sponsored by Budweiser) while exploring the site...
