XM Radio Surpasses 4 Million Subscribers

Xm_radio_4Press Release: XM Satellite Radio announced yesterday that it exceeded four million subscribers last week, extending its leadership position in the satellite radio industry with more than 70 percent of the market. Hugh Panero, president and CEO said the company is targeting 5.5 million subscribers by the year's end and will continue to pursue 20 million subscribers by 2010 and beyond...In contrast, XM's top rival Sirius reported recently that it had 1.4 million subscribers and expects to have 2.7 million by year's end...Looking at the big picture, XM has reached this milestone in less time than cable television or online subscription services and consumers have also adopted XM faster than CD players, MP3 players, cell phones, personal computers, local radio, broadcast TV, satellite TV, or digital video recorders, according to data from Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Market Research...
