3 Sells Mobile Music Tracks From EMI

NetImperative: 3 UK has signed a deal with EMI Music UK to sell some of its music catalogue to 3's customers base. "3 customers will be able to download songs from a selection of 100 EMI Music UK tracks. The tracks will be available in either WMA or AAC format, depending on the handset. Tracks will cost £1.50 each." The artists which EMI has mobile music rights to include Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, Jamelia, Joss Stone and Norah Jones.
The tracks cost almost double the price charged by iTunes UK, which sells tracks for £0.79. I'm also unsure whether 100 tracks is a good number for a mobile music service -- on the one hand its several orders of magnitude less than most online and brick-and-mortar stores (and for that matter, most people's music collection) but on the other hand you can't really put that much content into a mobile portal anyway. I can see this working best as a promotional vehicle for EMI artists...
