Razor Wire
Art punk pioneers Wire had their guitars turned up to 13 last night at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. During "One of Us" -- a standout from the band's new LP "Object 47" -- the house PA started to crackle under the heft of all the shredding. Three encores later, the sold-out throng of devotees was left drenched and deafened from the band's career-spanning set list.
"Boiling Boy" from 1988's "A Bell Is a Cup ... Until It Is Struck" was a slow melting treat, while "Lowdown" from the band's seminal "Pink Flag" was definitely the cherry on top. Later, Helmet's Page Hamilton turned up as a surprise guest for the encore. It all happened so fast and we wish we could go back for another scoop. And Chloe Sevigny, we forgive you for stepping on our boots on the way out.
