Bob Weir & RatDog / Keller Williams / Los Angeles 7/28/07

I pulled into Griffith Park, home of the Greek Theatre, at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. The temperature was in the high 90s and the sky was clear. Another scorching day at the Greek. I had not been to the Greek Theatre since last year when Bob Weir & RatDog shared the stage with the String Cheese Incident. It was good to be back.

Bob Weir and RatDog had a minor setback this summer. Mark Karan, the lead guitarist was diagnosed with throat cancer and had to step down to undergo treatment. While Mark is at home , his guitar mate from the The Other Ones, Steve Kimock is filling in. The tour has been going well, and tonight is the last show with Keller Williams. After the show, RatDog is off home for a couple of weeks before hitting the road again in August.

Soundcheck was over and it was time for Keller to take the stage.
His laid back style seemed to mesh perfectly with this crowd. The crowd really seemed to give Keller more attention tonight than last night, and when he went into the "Gategrashers Suck" song, there was even a great cheer from the growing crowd. But it was "Doobie in my Pocket" that really got the crowd going and when Bob Weir walked out for "Monkey and the Engineer" , "Cadillac" and "Dark Hollow" the singing along never stopped. On a side note, there was a fan in the audience both nights holding up a big homemade sign asking for "Monkey and the Engineer", and when Bob Weir spotted the sign from the side of the stage, they decided to sing it, making one fan very very happy.

Since Bob and Keller went over the alloted time, the change between Keller and RatDog was very fast.

RatDog took the stage and for the last time this tour, and the crowd enjoyed every minute of it.
