The Polyphonic Spree scares me. (7.2 Boston, Avalon)
A young girl by the name of Jessica Hoop opened the show tonight. At first I was quite bored with her performance. It was simply a girl playing simple melodies on her guitar and singing along. However as her set progressed, I started to realize she actually had a really good voice. Towards the end, A friend of hers joined her on stage with a drum machine and she performed an uptempo song. Although completely different from the majority of her songs, this uptempo perfomance was when she truly shined.
The Polyphonic Spree are a very interesting band to say the least...
They might not be the type of music I personally enjoy, but I will give them credit where it is due. They are talented musicians, and to be able to combine the talents of 25 or so band members into one cohesive piece of music deserves praise. Their fans are very, very serious about their love for the band. At times, I almost felt like I was sitting in a church surrounded by hundreds of die-hard worshippers of the church of the Polyphonic Spree. During the encore, all members marched through the crowd wearing white robes. It was like nothing I had ever seen at a concert before.
Oh man, I love the flute!!
I also love it when the band comes out into the crowd.
Good post!

The Polyphonic Spree is fantastic. At times their set seems more like a celebratory parade than a concert.
