Dave Matthews Band: Tweeter Center, Mansfield MA 8.1.07
What kind of modern-day, music-loving college student has
never been to a Dave Matthews concert? It’s just one of those unavoidable experiences; everyone my age has been
to at least one, even if they’re not a big fan. But somehow, I’ve avoided going to Dave Matthews shows throughout all of
high school and three years of college. I’m starting my fourth year, and I finally caved in.
Anyways, the concert started with “Crush,” and I was just relieved that they were playing at least one song that I knew that night. Right from the first song of the set, the band drew out a majority of the songs with long jam sessions and intense instrumental solos. More than once, these extended versions went on for so long that I forgot what song they had started with. I really loved this aspect of the concert, though, even more than hearing the actual songs themselves, because it showcased what talented musicians all the band members really are. It’s quite a different experience than just hearing “Crash Into Me” on the radio. Although everyone in the band succeeding in impressing me, Boyd Tinsley’s violin solos absolutely blew me away. And I don’t even like violin.
The show went on, and they played a lot of popular songs
like “Dancing Nancies,” “Jimi Thing,” “Crash Into Me,” “Stay,” and my personal
favorite, “
Melissa, I am so jealous that you got to go see Dave Matthews. I remember my first Dave concert and it was amazing. I totally agree that the band puts on an amazing concert with all the added instrumental solos. They're all extremely talented and whether you love the band or are just there to attend the concert with friends, it is impossible to not have awesome time. I saw the picture you posted, but I was wondering if you got the chance to meet any members of the band? Great post -- keep up the good work!

"There is NOTHING like the Dave Matthews Band!" Those are the words I live by :)
I have been to 35 DMB shows since 1998 and I will always go to as many shows as I can get to. They truely are an amazing experience. They do jam on for a while, but hard core fans like me Love it. Its when I close my eyes and just sway with the amazing sounds. The fans are wonderful also! I have always said that I could go to a show alone and feel like I am among friends. The major drunks are a bother tho :(
Everyone should "go To Heaven" and see a DMB show!!
