Michael Buble @ Radio City Music Hall - 8/2, New York
I was really excited to go check out Michael Buble at Radio City Music Hall. I've only been there once to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. I was curious to see how a live concert was in the space. Overall, I'd have to rank his concert as one of my top five most entertaining concerts EVER.
Jann Arden opened the show. I hadn't heard her music before that night but she was really great. She was really funny between songs. I was really impressed by her and her "band." which was made up of her on acoustic guitar, her guitarist on electric/acoustic, and her drummer who was playing (as she put it) a plywood box.
Anyway, after she ended her set, Michael Buble came on. He is quite the performer. He sounds just as good (if not better) than he does on recordings. He was hilarious in between songs as well. It was like I was at a comedy show with awesome music in between. In the beginning, he was saying how we picked a good night to come because it was the third and final night of his shows at Radio City. He said he was pacing himself the past two nights and was saving his energy for us. He then proceeded to "sing" Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love.
He had a full horns section, pianist (who also served as music director), drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. They were really entertaining as well. Halfway through the show, he was saying how a lot of people think he is "such a nice boy" but Michael insisted he is a bad ass. He got all the men in the audience to scream "YEAH" at the top of their lungs. Then he did an Elvis impression cause Elvis is a real man. Then, as if Elvis wasn't manly enough, he sang the Village People Y.M.C.A. Yes, he had 6,000 people in Radio City on their feet, doing the Y.M.C.A. Complete with arm motions and all. He ended the show with a choir - the whole audience was still on their feet!
The show was so much fun, it went by so quickly. Apprently, he'll be back in NY sometime in September. Can't wait to catch that show!
you seriously need to invite me to another concert. looks like you had an amazing time. that last pic looks amazing
