8/12 - The Bravery in Boston

The Bravery are such an amazing band. They have a fresh new sound and are much more original than a lot of bands on the rock scene nowadays. They play rock music with dance beats and synthesizers. They are influenced by the 80s but not too much. Their sound is perfect to me. They have a great image and are very proffesional and serious onstage.

8/10 - Good Charlotte and Justin Timberlake in Boston

Good Charlotte and Justin Timberlake might sound like an odd combination of artists to tour together, but after seeing the show, it definately worked. Good Charlotte played a lot of songs off their new album "Good Morning Revival" which has a lighter, almost dance-y sound which went over well with the Justin Timberlake fans.  I did notice a lot of Good Charlotte fans there as well. The band played for about 45 minutes and sounded phenomenal. I have seen them play in smaller clubs and they sounded even better in a large venue.  During their set, I even got to stand next to lead singer Joel Madden's girlfriend Nicole Richie! I would have liked to see them play more songs from their older albums, but I quite enjoyed their performances of new songs like "Dance Floor Anthem" and "Broken Hearts Parade", both of which are rumored to be written about Hilary Duff. I would highly reccomend anyone to check out this band.

08/09 - Warped Tour in Boston at the Tweeter Center

I have been going to Van's Warped tour every year for the past 5 years in both New York and Boston. I have to admit that the lineup for this years tour isn't as great as previous years, but there are some really great acts and I had a phenomenal time this year! There's something for everyone on this tour!

I started off my day seeing a band called Family Force 5. I had never seen them live before, and I had only heard one of their songs. They put on a great live show. They had a ton of energy and even had some breakdancing going on onstage. Insane!

Motion City Soundtrack, Boston, 7/24

Motion City Soundtrack is probably one of the best live bands I've ever seen. There is just something about them that sets them apart from other bands in their "scene." It might be the fact that they have a moog player or because their lead singer has crazy hair; I'm not sure. They put so much energy into their live show, and the crowds gets just as into it as the band are. They played some classic songs like "The Future Freaks Me Out" and "Everything is Alright." They also played some new tunes called "Fell in Love Without You", "This is For Real", and their new single "Broken Heart"; all of which are on their new record coming out this September.

Punk Rock 101 with Bowling For Soup.

A few years back, I was a big fan of pop punk bands. I have seen Bowling for Soup a few times in the past and quite enjoyed their live show. However in recent years I have grown up a bit and left the pop punk scene behind. So going to this show was almost like entering a time warp. Everyone was jumping up and down in their dickies with brightly coloured mohawks. It was almost comical in a sense.

The Polyphonic Spree scares me. (7.2 Boston, Avalon)

A young girl by the name of Jessica Hoop opened the show tonight. At first I was quite bored with her performance. It was simply a girl playing simple melodies on her guitar and singing along. However as her set progressed, I started to realize she actually had a really good voice. Towards the end, A friend of hers joined her on stage with a drum machine and she performed an uptempo song. Although completely different from the majority of her songs, this uptempo perfomance was when she truly shined.

The Polyphonic Spree are a very interesting band to say the least...
